We submitted EOI the other week & it has been selected (150 pts) no contact as yet, however OH job offer came through today & it says to apply under Talent Accredited Employer, job is a Project Manager with Telecom New Zealand.
Can anyone offer any help, do you think the EOI will be thrown out as not skilled? We got the points so the only way I can see they can't accept it is if they say it's not skilled employment.
I know it's not the end of the world as we will go down other route but I wanted PR straight away so we can sell up here & buy in NZ
Any help much appreciated
:cheers

Have you contacted immigration and let them know you have a job offer now, it should be changed on your EOI, or did you already put the joboffer on it?
If it's with an acredited employer I don't think you need to worry.
You might also want to apply for a work permit if you need to get to NZ to start the job. You can do that alongside the PR application.

Definitely get in touch with immigration regarding job offer / update your ITA if you recieve it soon.
Going for a WTR should be a quicker way to get to NZ so if that is important to you, then discuss the options with immigration.
IMO a WTR is really there to help the employers and not you, it will almost certainly be better for you to continue the PR process instead i.e. you either do it now, or have to do the WTR now AND the PR later.
Now that you have a job offer, they should fast track your PR application anyway so there shouldn't be much difference in the time that it takes.

Sorry should have been a bit clearer, OH did have the job offer when we submitted the EOI, I'm just worried that we've gone in under the wrong category, If he had the points are we stll eligable or can they turn round & say that a Project Management role is not Skilled.
Oh I wish they would contact us, how long will I have to wait?

Hi Lindsey,
This is a very frustrating process. If you submitted the EOI and stated that you had a job offer, them I am sure the turn around will be quite quick. If they find that you DON'T have all the points that you have claimed, then my understanding is that as long as you are over the cut off points you would still get in and with a job offer I am sure that you will.
We had quite a bit of "tooing and froing" with NZIS in the beginning, and they kept us informed and allowed us to appeal and stuff so try not to worry. I am sure that you will be ok if you have a job offer.

Hello There.
Have a look at the Long Term Shortage List on the NZIS web site. It has Project Management roles in Telecoms listed as a skill shortage area. Also you will be able to claim points in the future growth area i.e. Information Communication Technologies. Again an employment, experience, or education in the absolute shortage area can give you additional points on your EOI.
Now regarding the correct route into NZ: I would go for a General Work or a Work to Residence visa along side my EOI application. This way you will be absolutely sure that you join the offered position in time (March time frame). I am assuming that a company of the scale of TCOM NZ would pay the visa fee under the relocation charges etc , so its a win win situation. If you get the ITA first keep pursuing that route, and you will get the work visa within a month or so anyways. Note that you just need to get your medical and police reports done only once. Both remain valid for 3 and 6 months respectively and you can use them for both your applications.
My situation is a bit similar and i have gone through the general work visa route and have also applied and being selected for the PR (EOI selected). Turned out that it was a good decision to apply for a general work visa as i have not yet received my ITS even after a month and a half approx of my selection. BTW, also going as a Manager for TCOm company in Wellington.:)
Hope this helps.
Good Luck
