We've heard bad things about Wanaka at New Year - Hoonville apparently. Does anyone know whether Queenstown has a similar reputation or is it a little more refined? Just wary of spending New Year on a camp site with hoons and a 5 yr old so somewhere a little quieter would be better. Any suggestions for that locality as we're trying to plan a route.
Thanks

I knew that one of the gardeners headed up there last year for new year - but it was more like camping out at a crib with mates & family. You will have tourists there, but when we went there in Oct last year, it was quiet at chuck out time - 4am Jordon arrived in. and I never heard a thing from the street - and we were pretty close to the main area.
