Finally we feel like we have started the process seriously, we have just submited our EOI (135 points no job offer), We are waiting for the police reports to come back so we can apply for Claires nursing registration, And the Estate agent is coming round next week so we can sign up to sell the house, although this might seem a bit early as we are hoping to come out in sept next year, but we will just rent for a while if it sells.
It does feel like we are now getting closer, lets just hope all our thinking and planning helps it go smoothly.

Also if there is any kids out there about 13 might want to reassure my daughter Emma it really might be OK and she will make some new freinds we would apreciate it

Hi - welcome to the forum. I too am a nurse and we are hoping to come out next September. I submitted my Nurse registration in August with all the documentation only to find out yesterday that they have not received the University transcript. If I hadn't contacted them I wonder how long it would have been befopre they let me know. I would advise Claire to get all her documents sorted i.e. references, transcripts & NMC details and get them sent now and then submit the final form when she gets her police clearance. It seems they received all documents before I submitted my forms but it was the one after that they lost.

Where are you hoping to settle? Have you applied for any jobs or joined a nursing recruitment agency yet? We will be bringing our 2 youngest sons with us (15 & 13 at the moment). The older one is great about it but will be leaving his girlfriend, the younger one was not too sure but is coming round to the idea now.:yes

Hi there

I too sent my nursing reg off beginning of August, only to find out that the NZ Nursing Council haven't received any of my references!? Can't believe none of them have arrived but never-the-less, have asked all to resend! I would suggest keeping an eye and checking every now and then. I can't remember where exactly but I vaguely remember a post on here suggesting it's best to ring them as opposed to email.....which I intend to do next week. Seems things do arrive but get mislaid?

Sorry, that sounded really negative.....don't wish to scare-monger you.

You sound like you're pretty well organised....good luck with it all........and ENJOY!!

Hi thanks for the reply

Claire has got her forms & certificates together we just in the process of getting them signed by a solicitor friend.
We are hoping to settle in Christchurch but are quite flexible, Claire has joined a nursing agency called Accent and we gave them Claires CV and made a video at the Manchester expo the other week, Hopefully the will come through for us with a job.
We have 2 kids Jamie 17 & Emma !3, Jamie is really up for it and sees it as a great opportunity (hopefully he wont fall in love before we go), but Emma just thinks we are taking her away from all her friends.

Anyway I had better do some work, nice to hear from you

What a coincidence. I have got a job at Christchurch Hospital - start next September or earlier if I want. My boys will be 16 & 14 when we arrive. My youngest didn't want to go at first 'cos of leaving his friends but he has come round eventually. Who knows - they may end up at the same school and be able to share experiences about how their 'horrible' parents dragged them away from all their friends :D

The nursing agencies are pretty good. I initially registered with Tonix andhad an interview with them & did the video bit. I also was on the books with Accent but didn't fill out any formal forms. In the end it was Geneva who I got my job through. I had registered with them but no interview. They had kept in touch by email and earlier this year they were recruiting for Christchurch Hospital. Staff from the hospital came over in September to interview people and thats how I got the job. I know they tell you not to regsister with more than one and in a way I didn't as I have not yet instructed Tonix to start job hunting for me.

There are lots of jobs out there -all the DHB's have open vacancies on their websites. Claire could always apply to them direct if she wants a paricular hopsital or area. Good luck anyway - maybe we will meet up in Chch next year :nice1

Welcome to the forum! I'd reiterate what the others say, when you think the nursing council should've received all your stuff, give them a call to see if they have it. They lost stuff that I sent recorded delivery, wouldn't accept one reference as it wasn't dated but didn't tell me that...etc. etc. On the bright side, when they did start processing it, they were very fast.
Good luck,
K
