Having been encouragerd by Rusty's selection of EOI, I am wondering about submitting mine; I have 110 or 115 points without job offer. The difference is the no of years work experience and I don't know how to calculate it. I have worked full time and part time(2 1/2days a week) and know that counts as half. But what about all the hours I've worked on supply ie I'm a teacher and in between having babies I've always done a bit . How do I match the hours worked with accounting for years experience? Do I simply add all the hours from pay slips and see what that equates to in days/weeks/months?
Any advice welcomed!
Meanwhile still hoping for a job offer but getting rather close to make start of term in NZ possible ie. end of Jan/beginning of February!

Calculation of levels of work experience must be for complete weeks based on a 30-hour week.
Also, credit is given for 30-hour weeks only.
So, as you say if you worked for 2.5 days per week then that would count as half (assuming it was 15 hours) but you may have actually done more e.g. 20 hours per week?
If you have worked more than 30 hours in one given week then it will only count as one weeks experience.
For other part-time work, work it out accordingly e.g. if you did 20 hours per week for 3 years then this would be equivalent to 2 years experience.

Hello,
Please check, but I thought teacher was a skill shortage. If it is, you will have bonus points for any work experience as long as you have the required qualification (which should also give a bonus?). With these bonuses you should be selected ahead of just having 115 pts.
Does that make sense?

Yes Rusty, secondary school teachers are on long term shortage list but I'm primary which is on immediate skills shortage list but that doesn't give you any points! Boo-hoo.
Have just added up all my work hours and can't get into the 8 yrs slot so with only 6 yrs experience, I'll have 110 points, as will OH. Might just submit EOI any way and hope!
Do they actually look at the details of the EOI, ie if they saw we have 3 kids who are bound to be skilled and contribute massively to NZ economy in time, would that help!!??
Alos would it help if OH submits his EOI at same time, he has also 110 points but less chance of job offer as he works in conservation.
