Whichever way we look at it, we are 2 hours away from being here for the 2 year update.

Ok, not going to bore you all with what we have done and where we have been, but to say we are to a degree happy. We have had the normal up's and down's that all folk have when they make a move like this, and unfortunately it all comes down to the financial side of the move.
Yes monies are very tight, and we aren't able to do what we may have wanted 2 years ago, as we aren't able to save anything. I made a concious decision to try and get out of the trucking game, and to a degree its happened, but my thoughts are swinging back to it, due to the ability to earn slightly more, but with it comes the cost of big hours, which i don't really want, as i came here for a different lifestyle. Lots of thinking to do on that level.

Elaine is settled, along with the girls. This move has allowed us to give the girls a little slack on the lead that all parents keep on their kids. We haven't had any probs with their lives at all, and they never talk about returning. The only thing they miss are family, and this morning we realised what we are missing as my BIL has his grandchildren staying over and we have managed to see our nieces for the first time in these 2 years we have been here, and the height of it was being able to see the youngest of 2 weeks on camera. Yes, these are the things that probably has a big pull on returning, and not other little problems that may crop up once in a while, but you have to try and put them to the back of your mind and hope that one day they will jump the plane and come visit.

To help us over the 2 years has been to find, and mix with locals and ex-pats. We are very lucky to have a good mix of these people. I have managed to get involved in the playing and coaching of the local footie team, and that is something which eased me into life out here. The girls have their mix of friends, and Elaine has a good mix too

Oh i could go on, and on, but i won't. What i will say is life is good, and we are just getting on with it. We are just waiting on planning permission for the new build we are about to embark on, and once that is done you'll get to see it. We have a possibility of my BIL dropping in to see us early 08, so that should be good for us too.

Yeah, life's good, but we still have stress!!!

Great update! I honestly didn't realise you had been here that long, but then again we are coming up to our 'year anniversary' this month :uhoh

Stress will never leave no matter where you go, a different set of stresses maybe, but we all carry them with us!!

Good luck with the build, when are we going to see some photos?

Good to hear all is going well on the home front at least if not on the job front.

We're looking forward to seeing the progress of the house build. We might even come across and see it 'in the flesh'.

Here's to the years to come. :cheers

Great stuff. Having the kids feel settled is a big part of helping things go realtively smoothly I think.

Nightmare, hmmmmmm to a degree, but we're getting there lass. Yes we have the view of Pirongia. Where you were going to get that section, then come down immediately from that point and you have ours. Once its all done then the pic's will be up, but if you think i am putting a pic of a piece of grass, then thats a no no.

Bloomin heck! 2 years..... amazin how the time flies eh? Remembered last night that Kev and Marcia stayed in ours last bonfire night before they set off for NZ.

Kim, no matter where you are in the world you will still have stress, that is called life.

And it does tug the heart strings when you see the rellies on the cam, but it is doubly hard when you can only see photos and/or phone calls like I had when I at sea.

Good luck Brierleys, see you soon.
