They come up on trademe every so often. I bought a gorgeous oak table and chairs off trademe for $500. If I had been more patient I could have got one for less than that, but I do love the one we bought.

We have been looking for one since we got here and still no luck. As Jojo said I think they do come up on trade me every so often.

Not sure if they have an oak set but this is a good site for looking at furniture costs:

The main problem I've found in NZ for finding particular kinds of furniture is just the lack of choice. So if you have your heart set on a particular style or finish either buy before you come or be prepared for a wait!

bought NZ pine, cheap as chips and looks good (but then I had good old Argos flat pack in the UK LOL)

depends what you want really - go to Harvey Normans & pay through the nose for the same type of thing half the price at the local shops.

look around and see what bargains you can find and haggle if your paying cash
