Just in case you guys were wondering where on earth we were....
We're finally here in New Zealand after leaving the UK on the the 8th of October.
I don't have internet access at the moment at home, but here's a few details of our journey so far.
The flight from Manchester was great, attentive SA service all the way, and we landed 12 hours later in Singapore. Got a shuttle bus to the Mandarin Oriental (awesome) tried to keep awake, but succummed to some shut eye after a very welcome complimentary breakfast!
Ventured out into Orchard Road later (felt like being in an oven) Wow! the shopping malls were so shiny and full of fancy designer goods - i could have window shopped for hours on my, but OH and daughter not up for it.
Grabbed some quick food (the choice is amazing). One quick observation, the Singapore people are extremely polite anf helpful.
Day2 Went to Raffles, enjoyed this immensely! What a contrast to the modernity of the city - had a Singapore Sling there to fully soak in the atmosphere of the Palm Court - again the hotel is a shopping paradise for designer labels etc! Dinner at the Swissotel - I think it's the tallest building in Singapore - and the restaurant is on the 41st floor, so spectacular views of the whole city lit up at night.
Day3 Went to Sentosa for the day - more relaxing, but freat fun, especially the 'Pink Dolphin' show! Got the Monorail back to the CBD, and had a fantastic dinner at 'Indochine' on the 'Boat Quays' - the nightime views of the city are just breathtaking over the river!
Back to Changi for our early morning flight to Auckland. What a flight! It was turbulence all the way down to NZ! Hardly any drinks or food could be served as the captain told the crew to remain buckled in too! Not the best of experiences for me - You guys already know I'm a nervous flyer to start with...
10 hours later we landed in Auckland - what a relief! Jumped in a taxi and got some sleep at our B and B. We've arrived at last......
