We are doing our own packing and at box #87 I do have a definate favorite type of box. Best of all they are free. My OH had the good idea to go down to the local REI (a sporting good store) and ask for bicycle boxes to use to pack up our bikes. Well, they are good for that, but they are also perfect for art- even large framed art. Now I've packed 2 folding garden chairs in one. An old fashioned push lawn mower and the garden tools! Another box fit the children's very small chairs. Considering now if we might be able to pack up our table in one! Some bike boxes are much more sturdy than others. If you live on the West coast of the USA, it's well worth tracking down some of the REI DC boxes. They are extra thick and they use tape to secure them instead of the scary copper stables. At our local REI they stick them outside and just told us to help ourselves.
To wrap the furniture, I've gone to all the local thrift stores and bought blankets, much much cheaper than the real furniture pads.
It's getting close now, just over a week to go.
Anyone else have a favorite packing tip?
