Things have been going well for the past week or so.. Firstly my financial crisis was solved by the nice people at National Bank, Second i have signed and bought a car arriving tomorrow, so i can have a life here again and get out the damn house!! :yes
And today.......
I got probably one of the most important letters for my future and life in NZ, no sadly not PR or even close yet, BUT my entire future and chances of living in NZ have obviously been on the skilled migrant category as an Electrician on the shortage list. And key to that of course has been to become a registered and licensed Electrician here, Even NZIS advised me to hold off on even my EOI until i had approval to get registration here so i hadnt even started the process yet.
I sent all my details to the Electricians board at the middle of July (yup that long ago!) and then 2 months later got told the references from old UK employers were not detailed enough, i then fought with UK employers (from here) to get them to supply the firm details, this has gone on for weeks, weeks and more weeks! Over 3 1/2 months to be exact, and the longer its gone on the more worry and doubt that creeps into ones mind you know.
Anyway i am warbling on arent i? LOL
Well today i finally got a letter from the Board saying
APPROVED for NZ Electricians License
:raebanana :raebanana
I never should had a doubt, but there was always the 10-20% chance that if old employers etc dont play ball then i may be declined and my idea of living in NZ and PR could have been scuppered. But today i can relax and breathe deep, for i can now get on with submitting an EOI and starting the PR road.....
SO, how long is it all likely to take when i am already working in NZ in a job on the shortage list, and have about 210 points i think?
Just dreading the medical now! As i am still way overweight and pertrified of needles!! Arghhh
But hell fear can wait, for today i am cracking open a beer or two in celebration.....
