Completed on the house sale, money in the bank!

Who would have thought we'd ever get there.

Took the car to the port yesterday from where it will be shipped, very odd to just leave it there, hand over the key and walk away. Theoretically (ha), we might be able to have it on the road in NZ before Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath.

Because our carefully laid out plan that involved our stuff arriving slightly before us, ready for us to be unpacked and moved in kind of doesn't work because the container is late, about 10 days as of now. Oh well. It was a good plan...

Anyway, things are all happening now, and the first instalment of our family (OH an two older kids) leave on Tuesday for Auckland.

Daniela - I know you've been ambivalent about the move but I'm hoping NZ surprises you and you are wonderfully happy here. Good luck with the journey.

Thanks :)

My partner and sons arrived in Auckland yesterday, have inspected the house (that we only knew from photos) and are adjusting their expectations from estate agent photos with the real size and condition of the place...

I'm leaving on the 4th of December with the little ones. Though I have to say I really feel a bit odd at the moment: no job, no car, no house, and half of my family gone. Ah well. Won't be forever.

At least I have a kettle and beds at my mum's, the house in Auckland is totally empty, awaiting the contents of our (delayed) container...
