Hi

Just jumping the gun a little bit here. When we are sent an ITA (positive thinking). How much time are you given before you have to return it? Most of the information we will need to submit with the ITA is in England, and we currently live in Bulgaria, which will mean several trips to and fro I'm sure:( . However, we run a business here so would need to plan our visits back to the UK around our commitments.

Also..... Is there a checklist anywhere :D of everything we need to do, info we need to gather etc from completing the EOI to submitting the ITA :D

I am reading all these threads and am starting to get extremely confused of what I need and when. Thanks

When you get the ITA they include a checklist of everything the expect and even what order to put it in! I think the general feeling is that you shove in as much info about yourselves as you can... and then add a bit more. Best of luck:nice1

Just received my ITA and have been officially given 4 months to submit it,

In case of any unusual time delays that you can foresee, you have to inform NZIS that you cannot meet the 4 month deadline and they MIGHT extend the time line.

Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you.

One more thing (isn't there always) should you get your PR how long have you got before you need to take up residency?

You need to arrive in NZ within 12 months of being granted residency.

You need to arrive in NZ within 12 months of being granted residency.

You actually need to be in NZ within 12 months of having the blue stickers in your passport.

You actually have 6 months from the time you are granted a PR to the time you must have the stickers, so you can actually delay the process by 6 months by not providing the passports or not paying the migrant levy.

So, it is possible to delay arriving in NZ to activate the RRV by 18 months.

Also, you only need to activate the visa not become resident, so you would need to visit NZ e.g. on holiday within 12 months of getting the blue stickers.

I guess I should have been more specific in my reply. As IanW99 says, you don't need to "stay" in New Zealand. You have 12 months after being given your "blue stickers" in which you must show up in New Zealand. You can then immediately get on another airplane and fly home. Your Right of Return Visa is then good for two years.

The other point IanW99 is making is that after you have your telephone interview with your Case Officer, and NZ immigration says they are willing to give you residence, you have up to 6 months in which to send them your passport and pay the sticker fee. I.e. you can delay getting your "blue stickers" by 6 months. (I sent them my passport and sent in the fee for the stickers with my ITA, but simply asked my case officer to wait for a couple months before she actually put the stickers in and sent the passport back to me.)

I agree with lockstock.
I found the ITA checklist to be very precise and used it as a guide to structure my documents and evidence.

Also, while fullfilling ITA requirements you need to consider your current location to prioritize you work. I live in India and this is what I did.

1. Applied for police certificates - usually takes 15 days
2. Applied for the Q.A.R with NZQA. - can't say !!
3. Scheduled for medicals in such a way that it doesn't cross the 3 month deadline when you actually submit your application.
4. Arranged for other documents - specially English language requirements.
5. Arrange for the fees !!
