Hi everyone

I was just wondering what most of you have done or have organised re initial accommodation in NZ.

We were thinking of getting a holiday rental for a few weeks while we search for somewhere more permanent. Is that a good plan? And if so, can you recommend any good websites or good places to stay? We are thinking North Island - near Auckland ish.

Thanks everyone

Hi
We were thinking of doing the same thing, if you type in "New Zealand Bach" into Google you get a load of holiday rental sites, they seem quite nice although a bit expensive but for a couple of weeks till you get a rental sorted it would be nice
Good luck

That's what we're doing. We sorted out a longer term rental from December 1st to April, but will have just over a week in holiday places first. Seems very common - the guest books in our recce's holiday rentals were pretty thick with immigrants!

Hi there we got a self contained apartment on the beach front at Orewa for 3 weeks. it was nice for the wife and kids to go on the beach visit auckland etc while i went to interviews and it worked for us. got a job in hamilton and asked the guys at the company nice areas to rent and not so nice areas to avoid. Was in a rental in cambridge within 3 weeks of arriving from uk.:)

We stayed in onsite caravans in holiday parks, not sure if it works out cheaper these days, it was a few years ago now.

Yep, we rented an apartment for the first two weeks and in that time secured and moved in to a rental - not everyone finds one that fast - especially if you have school zone / pet requirements.
