Hi

we submitted a EOI on the 7th Nov with 170 points and a job offer and were selected straight away. We are now waiting for the ITA. WE have the medicals booked for the 23rd November and already have police checks, copy qualifications, birth certificates etc together.

My worries are what happens if we don't get the process completed in time for the move in January. The job offer start mid Jan and our rental accommodation in the UK ends on the 5th Jan so we plan to fly on the 6th Jan otherwise we will be homeless, we don't have relatives to stay with etc.

If the residence application is not completed by then can we fly out anyway or can my husband get a different temporary work visa till the residence application is completed?

We are traveling as a group of three, hubby with job offer, mum qualified but no job offer, baby 5 months....

any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jess

Hi Jess
We are the same, although we have the ITA but have to wait until end Nov for police checks + birth certs but my OH case officer said hold off on applying for a temp work permit as they can be issued quickly & she thinks we will be OK to fly out7th Jan 08.
Someone else may be a bit more in the know but I think we'll be OK
Good luck

As Georgebulldog says I would hold off for about a month to see what happens. If it isn't processed by them you can apply for a temporary visa, you can apply for a temp visa too under partnership and the kids I think will need student visas. These are processed quickly our were processing in two days.

You may be able to hold off on the student visas and you visa if you don't need to start school/work for a few weeks once in NZ.

I would speak to your case officers as soon as you recieve your ITA and just ask for their advice, normally helpful.

Hi jess
We are in a very similar position; except I have to start my job in the first week of February, we still don’t have an ITA but the visa officers I have interrogated (3 in total) all say it will all happen in time & don’t panic. Which is easy for them to say, as its not their lives that hang in the balance.
Best of luck:nice1

We fly out on the 2nd January now. I've got a job offer which I faxed to NZIS a week ago but still no sign of a CO and no visa either. I'm supposed to start work at the end of January. I guess the message is carry on regardless and hope it all falls in place eventually.

Thanks everyone. We will just have to get visitor visas and a 12 month work visa at the last minuite if its not done in time.

Hi

Got home to find the ITA pack had arrived signed for from NZ! I couldn't believe it its only been a week and two days since the pool and its here in the UK and nothing had changed on the net, still says selected.

Medical booked for the 23rd Nov and everything else is already together so should be in by the end of November ready to be assessed.

Wooo Hooo!!!

Well the post came this morning and once again no ITA, however, amongst all my junk mail was a note from the postman to say that a letter had been sent to me with insufficient postage attached. I could either go to the post office and pay £1.20 or put stamps to the value on the card and they would then send it on to me.
Logic told me that this was not my ITA, however, still I rushed to the post office, armed with my card, £1.20 and a sack full of ID…
I stood in line at the post office full of anticipation, I eventfully paid my £1.20 and was given…
More JUNK MAIL from a local company…
Well I visited them at their premises, on my way to work, and lets just say that they won’t do it again!:D
Once at work, I logged in at www.immigration.govt.nz (I’ve been checking at least every hour of late) and guess what…
Decision Successful:clap
