Hi,

My boyfriend and I want to immigrate to NZ from South Africa. He is going there on the 15th of September to look for work.

Without a joboffer, our points stand at 105. I have found that many employers want to know how far into the immigration process you are when you apply for work. My boyfriend is a Construction Manager with a degree and a Honours degree, so he should find work easily.

I am wondering what employers' attitude is towards giving a joboffer, and then have my boyfriend apply for a workvisa. Would it be preferrable to send in the EOI now, with the chance of being rejected because of the low score, or try for a workvisa.

Any advise would be appreciated :roll:

Hi Lizelle,

With 105 points the EOI won't be rejected, the score stands at 100 at the moment. I would suggest putting the EOI in now, you can add a job offer to it later if you get one, I believe.

Thanx for the input. I have been reading through the rest of the forum, and see that I should perhaps read a bit more before I ask stupid questions.

I will be filling in my EOI tonight, and hope for the best at the next selection. Do you know if the selection stays at 100, or do they put it up again.

On the topic of stupid questions:
How long does it take to be informed if you have been selected or not? :mrgreen:
And, how long after that will you actually be able to work in NZ?

just finished submitting my EOI with 105 pts; umm i hope it stays at 100 :hopeso ...

Last I looked is that whatever the points are at time of application then no matter how much it raises your application is based on the time of submission.

So get those form in now.........

We're just sellign up and going over. Get the job and then apply.
