Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to pass on the trauma we have had to others on this forum as there is so much to take into account when moving over to NZ.

My OH had a job planned working a a chef in NZ which is on the skill shortage list. All was fine we submitted our EOI, got our ITA, had our very expensive medicals (2 adults, 3 kids) and police checks. All was going smoothly we put the house on the market and are still sat here now, after nearly a year on the market trying to sell it :wah

We had to let our application expire because there was no way we could move to NZ without the equity in our home.

We are not giving up Im pregnant again and due to give birth in January 2008 and as soon as the house is sold we are coming over on a visitors visa and wont be returning in the near future. Im in the process of looking into work permits for once my OH has a job.

Dont give up even when things arnt going smoothly - at least this way we are not 'following the job' we can choose where we want to live so it has its advantages. :yes

I have so much furniture etc which ideally I didnt want to sell and wanted to bring it with us in a container. Is there any way we can do this coming over on a visitors visa, and eventually a work permit? Is there any other advice anyone can offer me when getting visitors visa, work permits?

Hi Natalie,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Sorry to hear about your house woes, unfortunately, it seems to be the case for the majority of people on here. I think you're doing the right thing in exploring other routes in, like you say, your OH will have no problem finding a job. Your house WILL sell, you just have to be patient.
Can't give you any practical advice, just wanted to wish you Good Luck!

Congrats on the pregnancy Natalie! We are also in the same boat as far as selling the house is concerned (as are loads of us) and it is the most frustrating thing - but you are right not to give up. Good luck with it all.

Wonderful words of encouragement for others going through the mighty move.Sending big Karma to you & yours for the success you richly deserve. Thatta girl ....
On bringing your stuff over, as it currently stands you would pay lots of tax (GST) on a visitor's visa. A work permit is the better way. Do a search on the forum for previous posts on this subject.
