Hi
Does anyone know what they actually check once your EOI has been selected? Do you know if it is just a character check or whether they contact previous employers? I just wondered as if they do I will contact them myself so that they are aware of what is going on!
Thanks in advance,

Well I am not an expert, as my case is still in process, but I read a lot of posts in this forum.
I found that they will not contact your employee but rather check most common things in your EOI.
Once your EOI is selected, they will check for uncertain things, and will inform you accordingly. For example, if your claim points for qualification in demand, or experience points for skills in demand list, then they will try to reduce your points and then check if you still have enough points left. This is happening with me.
However if you do have NZQA, or if you have been selected with enough points without those two complex factor (qualification and experience), or if you have job offer, then they will immediately send you ITA.
After ITA, and no job offer, they will assess your documents, etc, because at that time, they will have all your documents and can reach your employee etc.
I am expecting that if they take longer time assessing your point claim before ITA, the it will take less time once you submit your application. If they take less time before ITA, they will take longer after ITA.
I will suggest that you should expect 6 months to 1 year processing time, before you get your PR.
Good Luck
