The ship carrying my container arrived in Auckland on Monday and the container was unloaded on Tuesday. I called The Moving Company yesterday and they said they probably wouldn't be able to deliver the container until next week as it has to come all the way to Whitianga - which isn't that far from Auckland, really!

The woman I was talking to said she'd only received my paperwork on Tuesday, (which I thought was a bit odd seeing as I posted it two weeks ago) and that it would take a few days to sort everything out. I've got a feeling she forgot about my container and hasn't sent the papers through to MAF, etc. Is there anything I can do to speed this up, do you think?

Uh-oh!! Bad luck. You could try taking it higher, ask to speak to her manager? But if she's forgotten to do it, it's still going to take time I guess.

Ours seemed to take ages once it got to Auckland, I think we had to wait 10 days before it got delivered to Cambridge. It is really frustrating!!!!

Goodness, she sounded quite exasperated with me just now! She said she's a woman down. It hasn't cleared customs. And she said she won't start doing anything until it has. And she will call me as soon as she knows anything so please stop hassling her. (She didn't actually say that last bit in quite that way, but that's definitely what she meant! :D )

Sounds like the lady I dealt with at NZ Van Lines 2 years ago now works for The Moving Company. Except that she actually came out and said it....... :(

Good luck!

Because everything in NZ needs time and will need a lot of patience. The immigration process is just a test!!! ;-)

Ha ha - so true! We had this exact same woman at NZ van lines too, she must moonlight. Did she manage to make you feel like it was your fault somehow?

Our container will be a little late arriving, but we expected that. On the other hand, World Wide Movers assured me it will only be 2-3 days after the container arrives in Wellington that we have our stuff.

Also, I expected that we'd have to pay to have the stuff hauled into the house, but was told they included that in the bid with UPakWeShip. A very pleasant surprise. (I even reread the contract and am still surprised!)...[knocks on the side of his head as he types].

Have a glass of wine, Jo Jo. What the heck, I'll have one for you!

Cheers.:cheers

Our container was supposed to be in Auckland by now, but missed a connection somewhere...

Supposedly, it'll get there sometime next week. Very annoying.

Hope you get your stuff soon, Jo Jo,

The immigration process is just a test!!! ;-)

I used to work on a trading estate that had a rather confusing layout. When we interviewed for jobs, we used to say that if the candidates found the warehouse, they'd passed the first part of the interview. :)

Thanks for the messages. I am resigned to the wait now - at least it gives us more time to put up some shelves to stack things on... *typed with a fixed, cheerful grin on my face*

My stuff's coming on Tuesday! Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!!

The MAF inspection is taking place at The Moving Co's storage rather than at my place - apparently it was going to cost over $700 for them to come here and inspect my stuff. Has anyone else had this done? Should I be worried...? Do most people have it done at their homes?

Sounds the same as happened to us, so wouldn't worry about it.

For us, the container arrived and as they unpacked it, any box that MAF were interested in was put to one side. After the container was unpacked, they took these boxes away with them and they were returned after being checked by MAF.
