Since we just loaded yesterday I thought I post the answers to this, because I've wondered for a long time. Our 4 bedroom house with full basement contents fit in perfectly, with very little room to spare. Note, we are coming from America so no fridge freezer or washing machine appliances came. We had many many books, and very little in the way of large furniture. The container was delivered at 8 am and the driver drove it away at 2 pm. It was just 2 people to load it. We had everything packed ahead of time (Just the printer was left to stick in a box really). The container was not dropped, we were loading it on the back of a trailer that had been connected to the truck. I'm short so it was about my chin height that we were hoisting things to. Hello, ibuprofen.

Here is the truck being delivered, so you can get a sense of the size. I knew it was 20 feet, by 8 feet by 8 feet. I realize now that is the external dimensions, inside is slightly smaller.

Thank you for posting this - It is interesting to me as we are thinking of a container and have been wondering about the size and how much can fit in.

by the way, I'm impressed that you did the packing - Don't think I'll be that brave !:exit

It saved us $4000 USD, so I was willing to do it! I also was glad to be able to go through everything and get rid of stuff that we really never used. I love a good cleaning out. Also our next place might be a 2 bedroom - that requires some serious downsizing!

Thanks Tigerlily -- great idea to post this.

Just curious, how did you seal the container?

Glad to hear that it is all sorted out. I remember feeling very strange when they hauled it away then it sort of got liberating. The oddest point was when I realised we did not have a key to anything anymore after we sold the last car. It was a bit surreal to see it unpacked with all of our things here too.

Enjoy your travels and see you in summer!

Chris
