Didn't know how to title this.

Andy applied for a job a few weeks ago, and was asked to complete some psychometric tests on line, the results were 'above average' for one and 'average' for the other (both tests for the one job).

He sent an e-mail message the last week asking for an update/feedback, and the reply came back that they had sent a letter to our postal address.

So, my question is; why would they need to post a letter? I keep thinking if it's a 'sorry you are unsuccessful' they would e-mail. But on the other hand I would have thought they would inform him of the next stage by e-mail too. The only thing I can come up with is they want to verify our address for some reason (?) but seems a bit odd.

 Any clues anyone? Thanks a lot, C x

Ummmm.... maybe the person he spoke to made a mistake, and told him incorrectly? Could you ring them back and check that this is what they've done? And perhaps ask them why (as you explained in your post)?

Good luck!

I wondered if they thought we were in NZ, but the message was by e-mail, and Andy's request for feedback was attached to their original message to Andy telling him about the tests, so I assumed they knew he was in the UK.

Could you ask them to email you a copy of the letter? It could be that it is just their policy to write letters in this scenario, rather than it being a bad sign that they did so. Good luck - I hope it's good news.

Good idea, never thought about that! I think we'll give them a few more days, then I'll suggest to A that he does that, thanks Jo-Jo, Carole

I'd agree they're maybe thinking about what NZIS will need and any offers of jobs etc have to be in writing for their process. I'd look at it as a good thing - best of luck :)

I'm leaning towards agreeing with the others that (fingers crossed) its good news. Could you email and say that you are still having problems with receiving mail due to the UK postal strikes and could they attach a copy of the letter to an email so you can at least see what it says?

My parents have had all sorts of stuff simply not turn up because of the strikes and various cheques they sent out relating to their business also haven't arrived.

Good luck and let us know...

Yes, I'm beginning to think that a message requesting a copy of the letter would be the way to go.

Nothing in the post today - except a bill!

ive had 2 pyschometric tests here now and both times they wanted to ring me to talk to me about the results and ask for my comments and both times i got the job so it does seem a bit strange. :)

My wife was offered a job and they insisted on posting the contract out for her to sign, which took four weeks due to the postal strike in the UK! For my job they just emailed it, I printed it, signed it, scanned it and emailed it back within a couple of days - they said they'll get a proper signed copy on my first day there. Errr I think what I'm trying to say is that each company is different, so don't take it as a bad sign!
