Hi
Can anyone tell me if they have any big brand baby stores in New Zealand or Auckland. I am looking for a babies r us or Mothercare type thing with a website so i can look at prices of stuff to work out how much everything is going to cost for the baby. I can then decide what i want and go straight to it on arrival in Auckland. I will need to get a new cot as i cant bring the travel cot it is too heavy and will use up all my luggage allowance, same with the buggy, may not bring it.
I am going to miss IKEA!
Thanks for any help

also get childrens furniture from http://www.freedomfurniture.co.nz/
You can also get good deals at Farmers, and like Sophia said the warehouse and Kmart are good for stuff too.

Baby city tends to be the most expensive, followed by Baby Factory (unless you get specials) best prices I have found are from kiwibaby and winkalotts for the big peices of equipment.
Happy browsing... :nice1

Rumours and initial reports suggest one is planned for Albany in the next couple of years, but not one here yet, nearest one is Aussie, although I think there is someone on trademe that imports and sells some bits.

Try the secondhand baby clothes shops for things like cots. We have lots of clothes etc that are surprisingly difficult to sell on when the littluns have grown out of them. We even have trouble giving baby clothes away, cos grandparents get so much stuff new that they don't need anything else.
What bits are you after?

I'd be tempted to take your travel cot anyway. We checked in our travel cot and buggie and loads and loads of stuff. We were way overweight but managed to get away with it on both legs of the trip. Tbh, never even considered not taking them as they were essential items. From my experience, you are given more leeway with baby equipment anyway. If you have a baby, then they go with the territory!

Hi Jess, who are you flying with? You mention not bringing the travel cot because it will use up your luggage allowance, but your baby should have a luggage allowance, too, I think, even if they are sitting on your lap during the flight.
On Air NZ infants get the same luggage allowance as the accompanying passenger. Not sure about other airlines, though.

Hi Thanks for the advice
We are flying with air new zealand and we booked a seat for the baby even though she is only 7 months at the time of flying, so she will have a full luggage allowance. I am going to pack as much as i can and just get the rest when i get there. I have booked a cot in the hotel we are staying at for the first week so it should give me a couple of days to find one. If i can fit the travel cot in i will bring it i think. I have been looking at the shops you all kindly posted and most stuff is the same price as the uk so thats good. The only things which seem more are the cots. But i have seen some new ones selling in trade me shops so i might get one on there instead.
I am at that stage where everything i got for her when she was born was from 0-6 months, toys, bouncers etc and need to get stuff for bigger babys but will hold off till i get there. To be honest im not sure what i need, this is my first baby and when she was newborn i just bought everything on the list in the baby magazines but there are no list now and I am so tied up with all the immigration paperwork that no time to look into it. I will need to baby proof i guess when i get there and get her new toys such as maybe a exersacuer, new cot, highchair, after that no idea will just have to play it by ear.
Thanks everyone.
Regards
Jess
