Just preparing them now - had our neighbours round for a post-gardening drinky - and screamed house down as, when I took them out of bag, one blew bubbles at me...I now have to kill a crab :wah

Hope you enjoyed them. From memory I think you just dump them in a large pot of boiling water, the "scream" they are supposed to make is the air escaping from their shells. So I've been told anyway.
I lurve crab but can't kill them......bit like lobsters.... My Papa and his friends used to go crabbing down the beach and then cook them in some seawater at the beach before bringing them and cockles and muscles home.........always tasted lush but I can't do it myself.

Exactly right. I used to go crabbing amongst the rocks of North Anglesey at low tide when I was a lad. My mother(Moorf's grandmother!!) would refuse to cook them as she thought the high pitched noise as they were immersed in boiling water was the crab screaming!! Mind you she didn't mind making yummie crab salad after they had cooled!!
Brianw --- I wonder what sort of noise a cow makes when it's murdered?

How did you get on with the crabs?
Tried cooking one that I'd caught whilst diving. It threw up on the kitchen floor just before I put it in the boiling pot. That was it for me. :(
