Hi All - OH and I will be doing the deed shortly and we will start to look a the market once we have settled.
I love to buy and fix - "Mad I know" - but both OH and I fall into the "Handy Man" catagory:nice1 .

I would love to get a feel for the
-building costs per sqm
-availability of materials
-Legal ins and outs with reards to building regulations and so on.

OH and PS: we currently do not have our PR yet - will this resrtict us on the size of the section we would like to buy?

Any advise?:o

Have you considered buying a house from a house-yard? Then you can buy an old villa and restore it, plus put it where you want! I've always fancied that but, not being handy at all, it's not really an option.

I hope we're not hi-jacking this thread but we've just followed up on Moorf's link and the house relocating thing looks amazing. Has anyone on here done it? Maybe I should start a new thread.

Building costs per square meter in our region vary dramatically.
The starting point would be around $1200 per mt, but we have a friend who is having a beach home built ( near hot water beach) and it is costing $3000 per meter so far.
