I've just been offered a 2 year contract in Lower Hutt, part of the relocation package is for $NZ 2000 towards shipping and insurance of my stuff. I was wondering roughly how much stuff can be shipped for that amount of money (from Liverpool, UK)?

I am not yet sure if we will be staying there in the longer term, as this is essentially our reconnaissance trip, so I'm not planning to ship everything I own out. I think we will rent out our house in the UK, so wont need to sell any furniture we don't take, and can store things in the loft here. So I guess what I want to know is whether I can ship everything I would need for two years for $2000, plus whatever I can carry on the plane?

Sorry to waffle, I am very excited about the job offer!

Thanks for your helpful reply. I was wondering if that cost was just for the shipping, or if the company gave you the boxes, and packed them for you as well? Were they standard sized boxes?

Thanks!

they deliver the boxes, and came and collected them, it would be a little bit more for them to pack it, give them a ring they were very helpfull with us and can give you a quote. we opted for some space in a shared container, and looking round several companies they came out best for us, and it all arrived Ok apart from a small ding in a surfboard,
