Following on from Pleccys thread, I was wondering where people have or are travelling from to get to NZ.
What is interesting is that there are 3 Wiganers which is a relatively small town on this forum and I know of 4 Wigan families who have recently emigrated there, interesting!
So here goes.
Jo
For the midlands peeps if you are north put North West if south put south. Sorry it won't allow me more options

Stevenage Jo . About 30 miles north of old smokey
By the way, all you northern folk keep having these meets. Us southerners are very shy people !!! Why not bite the bullet and try to organise a North, South meet. Could be very interesting, yes ?
Just a thought ;)

I'm a Staffordshire girl - born and bred !!!
PB was born in Fielding - Manawatu.
As for a north/south meet - we're in the middle so it would suit us just fine.
Where and when were you thinking about?

'Rich Londoners'? Not all of us hon!! Anyway, London has it's own tick box!!
Wellllll, I'm from Auckland NZ but currently live in London (eight years on Waitangi Day - 6th Feb!!). Hope to be back in NZ by Xmas this year. Hubby is a West Country lad - from Plymouth.
North/South meet would be fine depending where and when? We're currently saving all pennies for that all important house deposit in NZ so not up for expensive weekends away (however, a nice night at a B and B would be a nice break!). :nice1 So if someone's brave enough to organise something...........
We did have a lovely London meet up at Leslie's house a few weeks back.

Currently residing in Stockbroker belt of Surrey, about five minute walk fro the famous Epsom downs racecourse.
I am however far from being a stockbroker, and FAR FAR from being a "rich Londoner". It doesnt matter how much the average house is worth in a given area if you cant sell thew damn things.

We are from (British West) Hartlepool, :eek and hope to be living in Auckland as soooooooooon as poss. Our permanent residence was granted in principle before xmas, but we're holding off getting the visa stamp, as no sign of a buyer yet (but did have a viewing out of the blue tonight - so who knows)!!
Anyone one else from this side of the pennines?

Dave and I both originate from Liverpool but met in Manchester (well Salford to be exact). We were living in Warrington when we left. Looks like most people are desperate to flee the NW England :laugh

Mostly so called rich "Londoners" don't even live in London. I go there everyday so that I can earn enough money to get myself outta here.

Exactly the same situation as us. Don't want to get my passport back yet as no sign of a sale on the house. I'm told that once you pay your migrant levy your passports are returned to you fairly quickly.

Hi Diny,
by holding off on getting the visa stamp, plus the 12 months to enter the country, that will buy us 18 months in total from 20/12/04
if we need that long to sell the house, we will be in need of both medical and psychological assisitance, so Diny, sorry to hear your'e in the same boat as us, but it seems to be a fairly common situation at the moment.
Trouble is, we would have liked to have arrived in NZ before the 5 year rule kicks in for citizenship, but the rules seem difficult to fathom right now, so not losing too much sleep.

We're in the Isle of Man, but I'm originally from Norfolk, Keith claims Stafford as his home but has travelled a lot. We've both lived in other countries such as Germany, Holland, Norway, USA and other parts of the UK, so we're hoping the move to NZ won't be too bad.
Don't know what box to tick as the answer... :no

ric and i are from the philippines, live in laguna which is about 70 kms from manila (eek, not sure of that, feels like it), which on a good day is about an hour's drive; on a regular day is a two hour drive, and on a really bad day (main thoroughfares simulate parking lots) is anywhere from 3-4 hours drive.

I'm originally from Bristol, Daz is from Exeter, and we lived in Bournemouth/Poole for the last 5 years before moving to Wellington.
So south/south west covers us both pretty well!
