Hey all,
Just about to send my husbands work permit out tommorrow, but have been reading and researching and the more I read the more confused I get. In regards to photos etc do you send the actual photographs, or can you make photocopies? At the moment theyre all mounted on A4 pages with explanations of who/where/when kinda thing, I was going to just run off copies for immigration but some people send the photos and some dont by the looks. Im assuming copies of rental leases would be ok, but what about bank account statements? Original or copies?
Thanks guys and gals :)

I sent a load of copies of photos in with my partnership application, but NZIS didn't even look at them, they just handed them back! I provided original bank statements, etc.

First a disclaimer - I'm no expert and we emigrated from the UK and have been married for 10yrs so maybe the rules are different but.... you say you are about to send your husbands paperwork in.
Surely given the fact that you are married your marriage certificate and then some copies of joint bank statements/mortgage and utility bills will be sufficient to prove partnership? We certainly didn't send any photographs or anything over and above what I've just mentioned. Just seems like a load of extra hassle and photocopying to me but thats just MHO.

Are you going through the DC office? I went through the DC office and my case office was very helpful. I called prior to submitting my application to ask all of my questions. I don't remember what I sent...ooooo, old age...will look and let you know.

We sent family photos in printed off from the digital camera. Definitely worth going the extra mile as it proved we were a happy family unit :nice1

Hi
We just sent a family pic of us 3 together with little ones birth certificate and our marriage certificate and bank statements and utility bills, which they seemed happy about.

We were given the impression that an actual marriage certificate is fine as supporting evidence, but what really counts where the joing bank statements, utility bills, etc. I didn't get the feeling it would have made a big difference if someone was a husband or a partner but that proof of everyday life together was worth more.
We took photos to the London office, but as Jo Jo said, they didn't keep them, just looked at them. If you are sending them in, I'd get extra copies and send them those.
Good luck,
Daniela

were going thru the santa monica office, theyre really helpful down there, I always feel like Im being a pain. Our one prob was that i shredded all of our banking documents, utility bills, the lot. Got a bit too gung ho with the thoughts of moving home lol. All I had left was a deposit slip out of the back of one of our old check books, I have 4 leases with both names on and one tax return I got off the accountant. Now after reading the immigration nz site really confused me because it said that they only needed photocopies because they wouldnt be returned. Go figure!
Wish us luck :D

Hi amaorican girl,
I believe (but, I'm not expert either) that NZIS require Originals of all documents (plus a photocopy of each behind). NZIS will then return the originals to you but may keep the photocopies for their records. I believe that photocopies alone are not enough. NZIS will accept Certified copies of documents & if you do send certified copies, you do not have to send photocopies of each. NZIS will then just keep the certified copies.
Hope that helps & Good Luck with you application..
Rebecca
