Is it quick and easy to get an ADSL line into rented accommodation in NZ? 3G coverage looks to be extremely limited, so probably not an option. Anyone with experiences to share?

hi,

I phoned telecom Tuesday 3pm line up and running by Wed 18:00. 2.5mb connection.
Easy to do by just phoning and it is added to the overall phone bill. Various plans to choose from to suit your usage

Many complain of poor connection speed but mines good!

Also have Vodem from vodafone for use on laptop when out. This is good in major centres with a good line of sight but tends to slow down quite painfully when slightly out of range. Also costly if you go over 2gb per month as they charge 50c per mb, past the allowance.

Telstra as fibre optic in wellington, Christchurch, and Possibly auckland.

Good luck!!

Thanks Boatieman, comprehensive answer. Took a while to get one. I was starting to think that either ADSL is not a term used in NZ or that everyone is using dial up!

Hi, once again asfaik dial up is only 20kbps in nz. Uk is minimum of 28.8kbps. broadband is adsl or asdl. upload speeds maybe limited with cheaper telecom options.
At least you can try and keep up with the 21st century. !!!

look on web to find out more

Cheers
