Hi there

Any advise,tails to tell,about the state of internet contections in Auckland,and Northshore?

Just need decent speed for emails and net surfing really.

What are the costs

While Iam at it... any advise re mobile phones?

if you do a search, you'll find lots has already been discussed about both broadband and mobile phones. Telecom is the main provider of Broadband and doesnt have a good reputation. I have their "go Large" program which is supposedly high speed broadband and sometimes its so slow I can not even watch a short video (as in You Tube or news clip)! They are also one of the two main mobile phone providers, the other being Vodafone. Again...very expensive, at least to me coming from Canada.

I'm in Browns Bay and use Xnet, which I chose on the basis of a recommendation from a fellow forumite. It has been absolutely fine for me. I'm on their Flood package and I get about 4500kbps download/650kbps upload.

Well it might not help but we signed up to Vodaphone a couple of weeks ago and the speeds/service has been fine.
On their fair use option which allows 20GB per month.
Think they still have an offer on at the moment if you take up their phone package as well they offer basic broadband for free for 12 months.

Well we've been here a total of 3.5 weeks so we're not a lot of help there.
That said we are trying to get settled but it's a big place to get to know.
One thing we have made our mind up on is staying on the North Shore, it grows on you pretty quick ;)

Ah thats a good sign,we are coming in a couple of days!! first staying at Browns Bay.Same deal really.. looking around for a wheres a good place for us to live.
Northshore sounds nice,someone also mentioned Howick,towards the east I believe.Just have to drive around and get a sense for ourselves I guess.
