My daughters Sutton (16)and Sydney(15) are moving to Tauranga as soon as the Visa gets back that is! We are really looking forward to moving and have been busy cleaning house on this end. We are coming from the US. I have a job offer but have been looking for rentals in the Tauranga area. Can't wait to arrive.

welcome tothe forum. You will have lots of questions and usually there are lots of helpful people here who can answer them. Tauranga is a lovely city, I am not familiar with the rentals there, but chances are someone else here will be.

Hello and welcome!
We are living in Tauranga (with 15 year old daughter too).
There are many estate agents here for rentals, but the 'Bay of Plenty Times' advertises rental properties here for private landlords every Wednesday and Saturday. Hope this helps.

Lesley Thanks. We have been looking at houses in the Otumoetai area but not a definite. Has your daughter started school yet? What are the schools in Tauranga?

Hi mgf
The schools in the area seem ok to me so far (we have only been here 6 weeks ourselves). The two schools that appealed to us most in this area were: 'Bethlehem College' and 'Aquinas College'. We applied to both, but Bethlehem said they were unable to take any Year 10 students, so we went along to Aquinas, which actually now seems to be the better choice for our daughter, as it is fairly small and compact with fewer pupils attending.
'Tauranga Girls College' was also an option, but it is a lot closer to town, in a high traffic/ fairly congested area with difficult parking and a more hassled commute. (just a personal opinion)
Feel free to pick my brains further I will tell you what I know so far.

Lesley,
I had actually looked at Aquinas as a possiblity, since the girls had been attending parochial schools in the States. What is the additional cost in NZ to attend if I may be so bold to ask?

mgf.... I'll pm you some details.
Will the girls be "International Students' or will you have Residency or Work Permits?
No problems

Hi there & welcome! We just moved to Tauranga and live in Papamoa Beach...which is a lovely area as is Mount Mauganui...and not far from Tauranga City..Can't help with school as my wee one is only 17 months...
Trademe is another great source for rentals...though right now the market is tight in the Mt. and Papamoa due to the summer season...
Good luck!
