Here's another simple (or stupid) question....
Will UK phones work in NZ?
i.e. same wall plug, line voltage etc...if not...any adaptors available?
'cause I have a 3M's ACS2000 conference phone (star phone) that I use and would like to be able to use in NZ without forking out for a new one.

NZ use the same phone socket as UK (BT).
Same mains voltage and frequency, current is lower 10A instead of 13A (shouldn't be important for a phone though :laugh )
The mains socket is different and your phone may have a moulded plug transformer so you may not be able to change it (although you could replace the whole transformer).
One recommendation is to bring over some multi-way mains adapters and just change the plug to a NZ one. This way you can plug in several UK appliances at the same time without needing to change their plugs also.

Thanks once again Ian...good idea...will get a pile of 4-ways and put 1 NZ plug on each.
Here’s another quick question, radio frequency....what is the FM band on a radio?
88-108?...’cause when I bought my FTO even though it had been in the country for 3 years....it still had the Jap radio frequency band 70-90 so I could only get Radio2....spent a fiver on e-bay and got an 18mhz active crystal that fitted in the aerial line and 12v from the "acc" lead and bingo, 88-108Mhz....but it still displays the 70-90 numbers, you have to remember that it is +18Mhz...no problem really.
Cheers

From what I can gather the FM range is from 88.8MHz to 106.63MHz but to be honest I don't pay too much attention as I only listed to the radio in the car and then I just 'scan' for something to listen to.
Most stations seem to be below 102MHz in practice.
As you have already found, in NZ there are a lot of Japanese imports and some of these are sold with the original radio so won't be much use in NZ without being modified.

You can buy a range expander in Repco for a few bucks. There was a thread about this a while ago, but I can't find it now. :exit

Cheers guys, thanks for the info.
I had one "Specialist car radio" place in Warrington quote me £90 for a band expander...plus fitting and VAT...yeah...right.:laugh
£5 on e-bay inc postage got me an expander that, with 5 minutes fitting, works fine.
