At last we have been contacted by our Case Officer - no more wondering who he or she is. We've been living with friends fo over 4 weeks now and I notified NZIS of our change of address weeks before that but the letter was still sent to the old address. That didn't inspire our faith in communication with NZIS much. Fortunately the Royal Mail re-direction service did what it said it would and it arrived here.
The bad news is OH has to go for a full orthopaedic assessment on his damaged leg (ex- RN diver) which means a hold up. Oddly enough though, it's a huge relief to hear anything from them and I feel quite chirpy about the whole thing.
MOre good news - sold one of the cars at auction today for more than we would have got from the garage!! One up on the used car dealer.

Surely that must have helped you through the day :)
Sorry to hear about the delay, but at least you know that things are developing, and you have a case officer.
Good luck with the assessment,
Daniela

I've just been told that even if we go private there's likely to be a waiting list. It just gets better and better. :no
The worst thing is we sent loads of stuff from the GP the Navy and his war pension info in with the ITA so it's not as if we hadn't foreseen a problem. And even if his leg falls of in years to come, the Navy people here foot the bill (no pun intended) and we even sent that booklet to them.

Lockstock I had to have an orthopaedic surgeon's report done for my leg too. I have a titanium rod holding my fibula together - caused by a bad break when skiiing years ago. Once I had the report and NZIS were satisfied that I wouldn't be needing further work doing in the near future then I was granted my PR.
I think NZIS automatically follow up on all cases where something unusual is presented, and no matter whether you send additional info they request a specialist report.
Hopefully all will be fine and you'll be on your way soon...

Thanks for that reassuring info Kerry. From the tone of the letter I feel that this is the final hurdle and they are just wanting an official hoop jumped through. At least we can feel like we're doing something now and stop the interminable waiting.

Hi Gilly, good news about the car. One down, one to go. :nice1
I'm sure everything will be fine with immigration and it's just another hurdle to get over. You'll be here in Hamilton before you know it, I'm sure. :yes Out of curiosity who is your case officer?
