I was planning to sell a load of stuff on eBay in the UK before leaving but I've seen many a post which suggests that you bring it all to NZ instead.

Having been put in the frame of mind of 'bring everything, you can always sell it in NZ', I was wondering how successfully things sell on 'trade me'?

In particular I was thinking of some jewellery - sort of lowish in value, (probably £200 total - maybe 10 things) and women's clothes. (I read that UK women's clothes sell well - if that's the case then I'm on eBay BUYING instead! Well, I already am, for myself though - get it while I can - I will miss eBay bargains more than any other probably!)

I'm thinking though that re the jewellery and Xmas fast approaching it might be better to try to offload it here and now...

And the big consideration of course, is what I'm forgetting, which is the luxury of time!! (Well I've got time to type this ;) )

Trade Me I love it :D I have sold loads of my childrens clothes mainly Next as people love UK clothing as they wash & wear alot better.(better Quality I guess) Wish I had brought them more when we came over. Short Trousers & jeans they are all long here 31 inch inside leg plus seems the norm:uhoh As for jewellery I would try & sell that before you come over like you say before christmas. Have a look on www.trademe.co.nz & get some idea's.
Good luck with what you decide.
Jackie ( I love a bargain :D )

This thread has a bit of info about Trade Me:

I agree that children's stuff sells particularly well, as do any clothes with 'names'. I thought about buying designer wear from TK Maxx to sell on TM, but never had the time in the end.

If you want to see what the item could sell for search the 'expired listings' section (click on 'more options' next to the main search box).

For instance if you have a man's Quicksilver jacket you put in 'Quicksilver Jacket' in the expired listings and select 'menswear' it will tell you if any similar items have sold recently and how much for.

You could use these to guesstimate the price you would get for your jewellery. If you are too busy to catch Christmas - there is always Valentines!

Cheers

I have both bought and sold on Trademe since being here, i was an avid user of Ebay back home, so had to try out Trademe also. Dont really see any real differences, still works the same and i am happy with it. If you used and liked Ebay then you will be happy with Trademe.

In fact i love the option of "bank transfer", even easier than paypal or credit cards. Just buy something and i can transfer the cash instantly or when i sold stuff i get the funds transfered to me from buyer in minutes, its great!
