hi! i need a full nzqa assessment and one of the required documents is a certified syllabus/curriculum. from the nzqa site, they define certified as follows:
Certified copies are photocopies that have been stamped and endorsed by a person who certifies that the copy is a true copy of the original. The person who certifies the copy must be an official of the issuing authority or a person authorised by law in your home country or in New Zealand to certify documents. In New Zealand this is a Justice of the Peace, a lawyer, or a court official. A signature is required on each page with the name and title of the official shown legibly below their signature.
does this mean than an official from the univ i attented qualifies to certify the curriculum? or i need to have the curriculum notarized by an attorney-at-law?
thanks much.

The university should be able to certify copies of their own documents, but my approach has always been to get the most qualified signature possible, before sending documents off around the world. You could try your bank, they may have suitably qualified people to sign for you? But having read your post again I am sure you could get an original document with your curriculum on it from your university.

Hello
I asked the secretary of my department for a certified copy of the syllabus. She sent me a copy of the syllabus with a signature+stamp of the head of departement on each page. (I asked for certified copies as it was not possible to get an orignal document)
I guess it was Ok as I got my NZQA report back yesterday.

@ourguest, Dilou: thanks! :D i'll have it certified by an officer from the univ.
another question, though quite off topic. in the nzqa application form, there is a part that asks for what purpose is the assessment needed. you can tick all relevant purposes. among the choices: immigration, further study, professional registration, teacher registration, and employment. i'll be needing the assessment for skilled migrant application and i don't have a job offer. is it an issue if i tick 'employment' as well? i was thinking that i could make use of the assessment when i'm in nz and hunting jobs. :D
thanks!

Hi Yossarian, hope you don't mind me tagging my question to your thread. I already have the degree cert and course transcripts. I just want to know if a certified syllabus/curriculum is a MUST include document in the NZQA submission? Has anyone managed to get his/her qualifications assessed without submitting the degree course syllabus/curriculum?

NZQA's job is made difficult by the fact that degrees worldwide do not have standardised content, and they are trying to assess which NZ qualification would be comparable to those submitted to them. Hence them wanting a curriculum to ascertain what the named degree actually is. Having said that, if it is a chemical engineering degree they are likely to accept it with minimal paperwork, but if it is a combustion and fuel technology diploma from a minor non-English institution (for example) they might need to verify content.
Yossarian...I am sure this is now long after you've submitted, but if not then tick both the immigration and employment boxes on the form, as you correctly will be using the assessment for both purposes.
