hi guys
again i am calling for help (sorry for the multiple post but i want to triple check EVERYTHING as my dad had alot of problems with his a couple of yrs ago & it cost him a fortune re-submitting everything!!)
If My OH is granted a SM WTR visa with a job offer, does he have to stay in the same employment for a period of time or is he free to find another job?
Thanks

As far as I understand, YES, for staying in the job for a period of time. Work permits are issued specific to an industry, employer, job description and even area. I know you can apply to NZIS to change employers, though, so I suppose it isn't cast in stone. I read a case detailed on the website of the residence review board (I think) where an applicant had changed jobs without informing NZIS and was basically asked to leave NZ. He was appealing, but NZIS were clear on the terms of the work permit being fixed. I've only looked at the theory, someone else on the forum will have specific experience.

I don't know about a Work to Residence visa, but a work permit for the principal applicant is Job specific. You can change jobs but you have to apply for a variation (can't remember what its called) and you have to pay (of course LOL). For the spouce of the prinicipal applicant, their permit will be an open one and you can apply for and change jobs as you like. With PR via a job offer, I'm pretty sure you have to stay in the job for three months before you can change.
