After the hassle of medicals and then Mic putting the wrong address for said medicals to come back to us before being sent off to NZIS, we got our passports back today with our blue stickers Yay!!!:D

Now all we have to do is book our flights ( for New Years Eve!) pack all our stuff!! and send it off, Have a family Xmas at our house for 11 of us, have 3 goodbye parties, sort out the dog and her travelling details, (we have to leave her here for a bit, which will not go down well.) And all that stuff.
But nearly there...

Does anyone live near Te Aroha?

Does anyone live near Te Aroha?

Not yet, but we're aiming for the coastal area nearby, around Waihi/Waihi Beach/Whangamata. Lovely part of the world. Haven't been to Te Aroha but its setting looks great, and the surrounding area is wonderful. Close to Auckland for a day's business, too (but not every day).

Good luck!:clap

I love Te Aroha, we drive through it every time we head East or to the Coromandel, and often stop at a cafe there (fair selection for a small town). The backdrop of the Kaimais is amazing, and there are some lovely old villas in the town too, also lots of antique shops. I often find myself thinking that I would be very happy to live there.

I passed through TA on Sunday, and the rose garden is looking very pretty at the moment.
I too get the feeling that it would be a nice spot to live, should we decide to go rural in the future. I have heard that it suffers from floods occasionally, but then where doesnt in this part of the country.
We live about 1 1/2 hours away up on the coro peninsular, so not far by NZ standards.

We have heard about the floods too and looking at where our house is and the school we are right near the "wetland" or bog as Mic calls it. but thankfully we are renting from the school and as long as our belongings are insured hopefully any flooding won't be too devastating.
