Hi

Many members mention visiting the NZ Expo in the UK. Does anyone know if there's ever been a NZ Expo anywhere in South Africa or if one is coming up?

Regards
Damon

Good question, I would also like to know. I doubt it because NZIS do not have an office in South Africa. I attended a Protea Pacific seminar and they did not mention anything about one, and right in the beginning we had a meeting with a migration agent in Umhlanga (I would not recommend them at all) but they also did not mention an expo. If you have a skill in demand it could be worth considering a visit to the UK for their next one? But with Emirates flying to NZ for about R9000, particulalry if you haven't visited NZ before, then you might as well look for a job there.

Hmmm, I was thinking of going over to NZ to have a look-see in April next year. Problem is, we're only thinking of emigrating in 2010.

We also attended a Protea Pacific seminar. But we're going to try do it all on our own (with the help of the kind people on this forum, of course). Something like R40k per family to go through Protea Pacific.

Pity about the NZ Expo not being in SA. It would be really helpful to just get more of an idea of the job market, skills required etc. and perhaps make some contacts...

Seems like you're well on your way, ourquest! Congrats on the successful EOI. Good luck with everything.

Thanks for the good wishes and definitely do the immigration thing without the use of an agent. Not only are they expensive but you have much tighter control over the process doing it yourself. And NZIS have all the info you need on their website.
NZ definitely worth a visit, partly because you want to move there in 2010, but mostly because it's a spectacular destination.
