Hi
I have job offer with 90,000 NZD per year
I was calculating cost of living using this calculator
http://www.emigratenz.org/cost-of-living-in-new-zealand.HTML

I plan to rent a flat house for 350NZD per week
Then i calculated other cost of living
It says that it will cost 1024 NZD per week and i should earn NZ$ 72950.8 per year
This calculation is for a family with 2 school children
I am alone so i divide 1024 by 2
Tax will be 39% so it means that i will get 54900 after tax
54900/12 = 4575 per mounts
4575/4 = 1143 per week

1143-512= 631

It means that i can only save 631 NZ per week

I need your help
First do you think that my calculation is correct ?
Second do you think that 90,000 NZD is good or i should not accept it
I have plan to bring my GF after one year that i stayed in NZ

I really need your advise
thx

so it means that i can

Hi Pooria,

The Tax on $90,000 is $26,370, so your net pay would be $63,630 per year.

Weekly living costs would depend on the individual person and could cost frm $2-400 per week (plus rent). This would depend on the type of things you do and spend your money on.

$90,000 is approx. double the average wage in NZ, so it is an above average income for one person and would provide enough income to set yourself up when you arrive.

Please look at this
http://www.emigratenz.org/salary-finder.php
Was your expected income in New Zealand enough to provide you with your desired lifestyle? If not, remember that the calculation you've just been through is for a solitary earner.

If the same income is split between two people, taxes would be lower and your required annual income would be less. New Zealand's tax-bands are currently:

$0 - $38,000: 19.5%
$38,001 - $60,000: 33%
$60,001 upwards: 39%

A couple who have combined annual salaries of $76,000 ($38,000 each) would take home a total of $61,180 (that's $1,177 per week).

A sole-earner with a salary of $76,000 would take home $55,090 ($1,059 per week). So the couple takes home $118 per week more than the sole earner.

In 2003, the average gross family income (including social benefits) in NZ was $73,929 for couples with children. The figure for couples with no children was $62,390.

If you'd like to adjust any of the numbers in your calculation, use the back button on your web-browser.

If you have children, it's likely your salary will be boosted by tax-credits from the government.

What you think ? is 90,000 good for 2 poeple (I and my GF) ?

thx
