This is it, the final 3 week in the UK. Most of your time is now spend preparing for Christmas, packing and attending leaving parties. We are flying on the 31st December from Manchester to Christchurch with Singapore airlines. Is anybody else on the same flight?

Hi pipipudel, congratulations on nearly being there :clap We have a long way to go and I have a little question for you (like you've got the time for answering questions!!) You had no job or job offer - do you have any conditions to do with job to fullfill on visa? I've been told that if I put in EOI with no job/offer - points gained for skills shortage - I might have conditions imposed that I have to take up a full time post for two years. We're putting husbands EOI in at the mo but could take forever to be selected. Thanks and good luck with your last few weeks :)

What are your flight numbers?
We are going from heathrow to auckland but could be the same flight for the first bit.
we are at the same stage as you. It is all a bit overwhelming but exciting too. We are having Xmas at our house too just to add to stress, dinner for 11.
Did Singapore airlines say you coiuld have extra baggage? it said online they do for migrants but couldn't find anymore details

I think I might wear a big badge saying I am part of the emigrate NZ forum at the airport so if anyone sees it they can say hello. LOL

We're going a couple of days later on the 2nd. Still no visa yet - the extra medical report has been submitted so now it's back to the waiting game. I've got a job to go to though. It looks like it's going right down to the line for the visa.

We had similar problem and because mic has a job they dealt with us really really quickly like two weeks from when we sent the medical to getting our passports and stickers.

Hi mic'n'sj,
If you have PR you can take extra baggage with Singapore Airlines, but you must arrange that with them yourself before you fly. You can arrange this with SA over the phone using the service number which you should be able to find on their website.
Normally you should be able to get 10 kg extra right off the bat and if you send them a copy of your passport with the blue stickers and pay a certain sum (not sure how much at the moment, but I'm sure they will tell you), they should give you an additional 10 kg (so that's 20 kg's extra in total).
Be warned though, some people find that the customer service respresentative on the phone starts off by saying it's impossible. If this happens, leave it and call again later in the day or the next day so that you get someone else on the phone and try again. It is possible and if you can prove you are emigrating (hence the copy of your passport with blue stickers) they should honor it.
One more tip, make sure you get a confirmation on paper (either by post or E-mail) and keep a copy with you when you fly, because otherwise you might find yourself at the check-in desk arguing with them (as if you're not stressed enough by that time  !) and still having to pay for the excess baggage !
Good luck and enjoy the ride !

Hi
No we have no conditions attached to our visa. Nevertheless we just scraped 140 point have good look and if in doubt claim them that’s what we did.
During the interview I have stressed that we would not entertain a work to residence visa. I did not want move all my furniture family to NZ and be stuck in job just to get PR.
Good luck with your application. Do not hesitate to ask more questions.

Hi Silver
I keep reading on this forum that baggage can be increased with Singapore Airlines if you are immigrating. Nevertheless, I have called numerous times (15) and received the same answer 20 kilos and a blind eye for 5 kilos total 25 kilos in total.
Has anybody had any experiences with that?
