Does anyone want to meet up have a bbq and a day on the beach with a few drinks on Waiheke over the christmas holidays?
Was thinking of Oneroa beach as its a very short stroll from the village(and ferry, has free BBQ's provided.

happy Christmas,

That might just be the perfect excuse for us to finally make it to Waiheke...

Snap Sal!

We want to get over there whilst the in-laws are here and that might just be the perfect excuse. Will also be easier to let Joe run around on the beach whilst we chat as I feel we didn't really talk to anyone at the last Auckland meet.

So how does this beach BBQ thing work? Do you have to fight the other people to use it?!

Also are a couple of people going to be the designated cookers? I assume we don't all do our own individually and as hinted on another thread I'm pants at BBQing, although happy to supply some beer/wine to anyone who does volunteer :laugh

I have a slight preference for weekends as the OH is having to work a lot this Christmas, either that or I'd have to arrange to meet up with someone on the ferry, as with 3 young kids I'm a bit out numbered and could do with the moral support.

Quite excited though, all my family have been to Waiheke, I'm the only one that hasn't.

Cheers

Depends on the date, but I'm happy to help you with the children if I'm about Tia.

We would also love an excuse to finally get to Waiheke. We are away from 28th to 6th, but if it is any other time we would love to come. Like Tia....really need weekend. Can't control all 3 sprogs by myself without help (or a locked door to keep them in :roll )

Thanks Kerry - a very brave offer which would be rewarded with a beer!

However, I do have my suspicions as to whether you really exist as there have many rumours of you attending a meet but then you never appear, do you have some deep dark secret? :p

(OK, you probably just have a very active social life, but the 'deep dark secret' theory sounds much more exciting!)

Wish we could come - we'll be back in Blighty at Xmas. Thinking Il'ld rather fly over from Sydney to NZ and spend some more time on Waiheke.

if you haven't been there before you have to visit.

You'll need to get there early to bag a BBQ over the hols period though.

Enjoy all.

We haven't made it to Waiheke yet either and with my mother visiting at the moment, it would be a perfect opportunity to finally make it there.

We will also be away between December 23rd - 29th and again from January 3rd - 12th(ish, not exactly sure when we'll be back yet). If the Waiheke meet happens outside of these timeframes, we'd certainly love to make the trip !

Cheers,

Hi guys,

We'd love to. We can't do the Friday, Saturday a.m. or Monday (the OH has to work) but let us know the day and if we can, we will be there.

Waaah - I wish there was some secret squirrel theory, but no, tis the very dull one that life always seems to get in the way of things. I think I have tried to come to about 4 or 5 meet-ups, and i've still not made one yet!

how about next saturday (22nd) and go for afternoon that way most people may be able to attend, and it will be a good start to the holidays.

the bbqs are free to use, i can go earlier and get a bench by them, and will try and get a spare bbq for any veggies out there.

The date sounds good ........couple of questions ....

How often do the ferries sail ?

How much is the ferry ?

Can we walk from the ferry to the meeting place easily [Will have Grandad with us ].

Hopefully we will get good weather ,if not shall we just cancel and re arrange another weekend date.

Thanks for the Invite :clap

All the ferry info is here:

I'll be able to make next Saturday. I have last minute gift buying and packing to do, but everyone else is already away by then, so I shouldn't get distracted off elsewhere! Yay!

Have fun! :)

Oh dear, unfortunately the 22nd will be difficult for us as well as we're leaving for our trip to Taupo on the 23rd and have too much preparation to do :no.

Oh well, Waiheke will have to wait. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case the date does change to after Christmas/New Year, otherwise we'll just have to wait till the next opportunity comes along.

In any case, have a wonderful time out there, enjoy yourselves for us as well ;) and maybe till next time...

Hi Andrew & Jane

Yes weekend after Christmas would be great because we wouldn't be able to make a Saturday because by the time I finish work and get a Ferry it would be late before we get over.

Good luck with the House, looking forward to seeing it.

See you soon :raebanana

After Christmas is better for us but don't worry if you keep to the original date. You'll never find a date to fit in with everyones plans, particularly at this time of year, so you may find it easiest to just pick when is best for you seeing as you are the ones getting there earlier to reserve the BBQ etc.

When you finalise the date we can give you a definite yay or nay, if that helps! :D

Good luck with the house, when's the housewarming?! :p

Would really like to see all you other folk with small children like ours....they can keep each other entertained! I think after xmas is a good idea too....better than waiting until the last minute to see who can make it this weekend!
