It's happened. We won't be travelling with a PR visa after all. Despite pulling out all the stops for the med report on OH's leg it seems we have missed the last date for sending them to the Medical Assessor this year and nothing more will happen until 8th January. We got the e-mail today (about 10 mins ago to be exact).
I'm not too chortled about the way things have been handled but, of course, you can't complain can you? There's a few 'if onlys' kicking around now - and a couple of 'what ifs?'.
I'm fed up and I'm going off to my room to sulk.

Poor Lockstock, I really feel for you.
We have flights booked for 3rd Feb, we’re shipping next week, staying with relatives till we go, our notice is handed in at work, we have given notice to our tenants in our house in Napier my job in NZ is waiting until the 10th of Feb. Our medicals are done but we are waiting for the results, before we can hand in the ITA.
Our medicals were only today and apparently my blood pressure was NORMAL; well just when I thought I couldn’t worry any more. How can it be normal I’ve never been so stressed in my life, I must have low blood pressure normally then.
Will you get a work visa or are you going on ‘holiday’?
Best of luck, I hope it all works out in the end & I really am sure it will. It’s just yet another hurdle to jump, you’ve just got to pick yourself up dust yourself off and scramble over the next fence. Unfortunately it will mean more time, more money and of course more stress.
Best wishes:nice1

I have a job to go to which starts at the beginning of the new school year. The irony of it is that OH doesn't need a job - his war pension is probably worth more than the average Kiwi salary anyway so how could he be a burden?
Stress? What's that?

The plan now is to not let it bother me -(note time this is written - a.m UK time). CO has said she will do her best to get it all sorted before my job is due to start. It would be a great help if she answered her phone so i could actually explain things to her rather than writing e-mails which only seem to be answered every few days. A quick call here and there would have made sure the med report was done in time.
I feel like my head is going to explode. There's a stack of stuff to finish off at work before I leave and now I find out I'm an executor to mum's will but it's all in my former married name so guess what?- certified copies of marriage certificates and proof of identity all over again. And it all has to be signed by my brother too (lives 80 miles away).
If I didn't have this forum I think I would have thrown in the towel weeks ago. Thanks for being here everyone. I know you all have your own stuff to sort out.

Lockstock.....I wouldn't worry too much about the tying things up at work before you leave, your only human and you get done what you get done...great if it all gets finished...but you can only do what you can do...
Try and get all the certified stuff sorted and then send it to your brother...and thats another paperwork job out of the way...hope that doesn't sound harsh...just trying to be a bit practical for you...as sisters we tend to think that we have to do all the sorting out...I think brothers should pull their weight too!!!! Mine should anyway!!!!
I wrote loads of post its before I left and stuck them all over my fridge, it was covered, but a good way of getting everything out of my head and on paper where I could see it. When I did a job, I crossed it off but kept it on the fridge so we could see how far we had come.
Everything happens for a reason Lockstock...I do believe that, and I am sure things will fall into place for you...it will be worth it in the end....get some sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it helps on this forum to learn that we all have these ups and downs during the process. That way we can offer some sort of mutual support. It seems entirely normal that we get excited with each positive step before the next hurdle looms and stresses us again. I have tried to stay unemotionally involved, to a certain extent this works, but I bet it will come out at some point.
Good luck Lockstock, it sounds like it will all work out in good time, and even if you don't have your stickers when you travel I am sure they are imminent.

Really sorry you couldn't get PR sorted, we failed too on that front but it all worked out in the end and I'm sure it will for you too.
Try to enjoy your last few weeks in the UK and if it doesn't get done try not too worry too much.
We can have a chilled glass of wine waiting for you when you get here to help you chill.

Everything will come right in the end. It usually does.

I managed to speak our Visa Officer today. She says she's doing her best to make sure everything gets sorted as quickly as possible once the medical assessors get back to their desks in the new year. She was very sweet and seemed genuinely concerned. So that's ok with me. A voice to the name. It was great. Very reassuring.
