I'm looking to narrow my job search a bit, locally that is. I got a JD of a job on the other side of town (Waitakeres (Henderson, I think), I live in I think what they call the Eastern Bays).

Would going across (or around) town be as bad as going from North to South/South to North? Anyone know? The train would take 1hr and 30 min, so that is out, but they offer flexible working hours, so I might be able to go not in the worst traffic.

The job looks really good, pay seems okay, but there is no point going for an interview if I can rule it out straight away since it is too far.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Daniela

When we first got here we lived out at henderson (the only rental we found on TM that would take dogs!) and he had to drive to Mount Wellington. On a good day it took an hour, and he hated it!

I would suggest you try driving it for yourself in peak traffic on Monday morning before the full effect of xmas holidays kick in that reduce the traffic flow! it will only take you half an hour to get back after rush hour.

The hard part will be the crawl along the coast into town. Once you can get onto the motorway and through the CMJ, the traffic heading west shouldn't be too bad. It's always worth getting up a bit earlier to miss at least some of the traffic though.

thanks :)

I think I may just give it a try on Monday, to see what it's like. Yes, it is probably the first bit, going towards town that is the tricky bit. I suppose I'll have to find out what they mean by 'flexible' working hours, and how that will impact the travel time. Shame that the train takes so long, though!
