Well, it was very busy (as expected) but was quite good fun. You could settle yourself down by the stage with a picnic and watch the stage (which had a band or other shows on all evening) or wander around watching the animals. Some people even had table and chairs!

Kids could visit santa in his grotto or get their faces painted.

We watched the opening Santa Parade (a samoan santa in shorts and jandals!) there were stilt walkers and fairies/reindeers wandering around to interact with the kids. They were doing more animal interactions than normal which totally confused the giraffes and they refused to come and eat their celery (cue some disappointed kids), but the ostrich were happy with the stuf being thrown down to them!

Looked cool! My kids would have loved it.

I'll have to get back to the zoo to get some use out of our passes, I'll check the Chrimbo opening times.

Cheers

If you go there Mondays or Saturdays, Caroline is there guiding people around the zoo so you may bump into her.
She's not that hard to miss dressed in bright red with Caroline on her name badge.

Has anyone done the zoo at night tour and is it recommended? (the meal and visit not the sleep over one).
I was thinking about getting tickets for my parents as part of their Xmas. Is the zoo really that different at night?
Debbie.

Oooh, will need to keep an eye out for her, the volunteers (and keepers) I have chatted to have all been lovely, and really care about the animals.

Has she been up close with any of the animals yet? I was chatting to a volunteer last week that had been in with the cheetahs giving them a pat, she was describing their fur to me!

I think the night thing is meant to be quieter and because (in summer) its cooler by then some of the animals are more active at night, I know the serval cats only get really active at dusk.

We left at 7 last night, so didnt really see much difference to normal, apart from the lions getting their tea, that was cool!
