Pleased to report that family Zorbster will soon have a home to call their own and here it is, sitting on 2 1/2 acres of peaceful countryside. Definitely room for the llamas there! Don't move in until 1st Feb but that time will fly by now.

Great cottage! What look like skylights will bring lots of great light indoors while still having the benefit of porches.

Great find! Congratulations!

Great cottage! What look like skylights will bring lots of great light indoors while still having the benefit of porches.

The house is absolutely flooded with light which is one of the things we loved about it. It's up a really quiet little road and you turn off the road and drive over your own private little bridge over the creek which meanders through one of the paddocks (and hopefully doesn't flood in the winter!!!). Has a huge garden for littl'un plus paddocks for future livestock. A neighbour currently has some sheep on there just to keep the grass down so we'll keep on with that until we decide what to do with it. Its got grapefruits, lemons, oranges, limes, big veggie patch which needs some TLC and a strange climbing plant along the verandah which apparently has a flower/fruit that looks like a mans thingy so can't wait to see that one!

Has rimu floor in kitchen/diner and bathroom and carpeted elsewhere although we think the rimu is probably throughout so may have to investigate that. Been insulated under the floorboards and owners have a reasonable quote for wall insulation so we'll get that done before winter. Has a kent fire plus heatpump so we should hopefully be warm enough, especially once the walls have been done.

Do I sound excited???? (not at the man's thingy plant - just in general?:D ) Just can't wait to have my own home again!

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

Sounds like paradise, Sandra, with all that fruit and a little creek... such a lovely area too.

What lifestock are you getting? Do you work locally?

We're hoping to get up to Pohara again later this summer - want to explore more of the Nelson / Abel Tasman region.

We have always had a thing for llamas - don't ask why, I really don't know but we're probably a little more likely to go for alpacas as their fleece is more saleable. No immediate plans however as we're also wary about being tied down with livestock and we like the ability to just pack the tent in the boot and head off for a weekend without worrying about a menagerie. Need to meet some friendly alpaca sitters who'd keep an eye on them for us and then see what happens. Also definitely want chooks, oh and a donkey or two would be nice, oh and maybe a few more acres......

I'm not currently working, finding it hard to fit something around littl'un as childcare out here is a little limited. Got a few ideas for something a little crafty that I can do from home but I'm finding it hard to source stuff I need out here but that's another story... So currently unemployed, a little bored but will soon have a garden to nurture and a house to decorate so that will keep me a little more busy.

Drop us a pm Moorf if you're heading over this way - you're welcome to come for a barbie and a glass or 2 of the local stuff. Took a boat trip ($20 locals deal!) into Abel Tasman yesterday - stunning!

Can you tell us how you stumbled across it? A bit more about your househunting journey? How you kept an eye on real estate (trademe and/or other realestate websites?) Where/how long you have been living while looking for a more permanant home (not location necessarily - but a rental apartment/house? Purchased a home initially but are moving on now?)

Might be an interesting story for those of us yet to relocate...

Sandra

Is that the man's thingy plant showing in the photo? because that looks like a wisteria!! I never thought of it as mans thingy but with a little imagination.....:o

it looks just perfect, what a lovely villa.

The 'mans thingy' plant isn't the wisteria, it's another climber and the current owners don't know what it is - they just had quite a shock when the thing bloomed and it became a much photographed specimen - I'll have to ask them if they have a photo!:D
