A quick question for those who use this company: I need to transfer some money from NZ into a UK bank account. It seems they cannot do an electronic transfer and have to do a 'wire' whatever that is, which cost something like 32 quid. Have I read this right? I was hoping to use one of these companies specifically to avoid fees like this.

I haven't exchanged from NZ to the UK, but using XE to change from the UK to NZ costs £7.38.
When comparing companies you not only have to compare the wire/transfer costs, but also the rate you are getting. I often find XE's rate is much better, so despite the wire fees the amount I get overall is better.
It never hurts to shop around, so you could also check with HIFX and your Bank.

This seems expensive. My last Wire Transfer (with xe.com UK -> NZ) cost GBP7.36, but I generally get paid by bank draft, for which there is no fee. If this is not an option (you are not in the country), I would shop around.
Try
http://www.nzforex.co.nz/ as well as hifx and your bank.

I use Xetrade too. The fees are 1% of the transaction for me. (NZD to USD). Once I get married to my Malaysian/Chinese girlfriend, we will be sending some money to her mother too. I am satisifed with XEtrade. Good service, fast transactions and no problems at all.. :nice1

Confused  xetrade website says "No. We do not charge any commissions or transaction fees", so do they charge transaction fees or not?
