Hi,
I have had started to read the post "The Night Sky" and have just realised that I have a Celestron Nextstar computerised telescope that I use in the UK...the Northern Hemisphere:uhoh....any one know if this will work OK in the Southern Hemisphere or will I need firmware and database upgrades?
I lost the manual for it a few years ago so I don't know if it has any Southern data on board.
I have e-mailed Celestron but nothing as yet.

Anyone else brought one from the north to the south?

Would have thought you would just have to put in your new location co-ordinates........

Actually, Southern Hemispehere stars are incompatible with Northern Hemisphere stars so you'll need a completely new telescope. Luckily, I have one here I can let you have for a knockdown price of $20k.

Methinks it will just be a matter of plugging in your new coordinates.
