After humming and haaing for at least 3 months before we left and 2 months after we arrived our belongings are floating very slowly towards New Zealand.

OH father knows someone in the freighting business and managed to organise a lorry and container.
We only have 11 tea chest size boxes, a car and 2 push bikes so it all went in to a 20' container.(We had boxed up all our belongings and done an inventory before we left)

The ship sailed yesterday and our container is due to arrive in Auckland via Singapore, Feburary 8th. Which is when my parents are visiting so they can help unpack the container they packed, how considerate of them:nice1.

OH is tracking the ship and container via the internet, so if it disapears to the bottom of the ocean we will know about it!!!

It will be so nice to have our stuff. There isn't anything of major importance but I am reluctant to buy stuff I know we have packed in a container. I have borrowed some of the cookbooks I have from the library!! (Needed to do some baking)

Hopefully this DIY moving will be successful and cheaper than a removal company (OH reason for doing it in the first place)

When the container arrives and everything is cleared I will do a cost breakdown to see if it is cheaper, less hassle ect.

Regards Clare

Update on container.
We have an arrival date for the container. The ship docks on the 5th Feb at 5am (OH wants to go down to the dock with binoculas, yeah right!!).
Last week OH has been to Customs House to get the paperwork stamped, customs clearance for the container and paid the GST on the car and MAF to see which of our belongings need to be inspected.
Now we need to organise a van to get the stuff home, a transporter for the car which needs to be inspected, WOFed and replated before it can be driven on NZ roads and MAF to inspect the car for rogue mud splats.
OH is collating all the relevant costs so he can do a breakdown. He reckons so far it has been cheaper than paying a moving company, but we will see when the final tally has been done.
