We were planning to come to NZ in January. We have submitted an EOI and hope to be selectednext week (180 points by our calculation).
We haev now been thrown into a panic as it seems PR may not be granted in time for January.

We are being advised by an immigration lawyer (who has worked successfully with other members of our family) that we should enter NZ under a visitors visa.

Is this very dodgy?
More importantly can the children start school if we don't have PR - either state or private.

my understanding is that if you have a work visa they can start school, but I am not sure if they need a student visa in that case. I'd say go in on the holiday and sort it when you get here, dont think the schools go back til Feb anyway.

The kids need student visa's to attend school, our son's school finish's for Christmas 14th December and doesn't go back till 31st December.

We arrived in July on work visa's and our son a student visa and are in the process of applying for PR.
