my husband had a heart attack in 2005, got a stent implantet and takes medication since. My concern is that he won't pass the medical because of this condition. Does anyone have experience with things like this. I really appreciate any ideas and suggestions concerning this issue.
Many thanks.

Firstly, NZIS always remains the authority, we can only look at their manuals and give an intelligent (?) attempt at an answer. If you go to www.immigration.govt.nz , and click on the left on their policy manuals link, selecting "appendices" and then going to appendix 10...you'll find conditions which NZIS won't grant a waiver for. They mention some forms of heart disease, but my understanding of the way it is written is heart disease [I]requiring[I] surgery, whereas in your case the surgery is in the past. Best you study this text yourself. If this is the case, then it will come down to how much OH will cost NZ medical system in the future, for which they will probably request a specialist's report. If it is within their limits (25K in 4 years, I think) then a waiver is usually granted and the application can proceed.
Hopefully someone on the forum has direct experience, which will count for much more than the theory...
Best of luck. And of course the best of health into the future.
