House sold and the new owners so wanting to get in and we holding on to hear whats going on - should we just hang on til the New Year?

Oh we getting so sick of this - hope to goodness its all going to be worth it in the end.

Hi Jayne,
So sorry for you that the wait is causing so much frustration. I am sure it will be worth it!
We haven't submitted our ITA yet...waiting for the police clearances to come back from Pretoria...but I think you can count your blessings that your house is sold! The market is extremely flat at the moment and many people we know of are not even getting any offers. The one we've accepted is subject to two prior sales and looking highly unlikely (as we thought from the beginning). Moral is, there's always something to test our resolve...

I'm not recalling what "pending" means. Have you been accepted to submit an ITA but just haven't rec'd the packet yet?? Or it's pending approval based on NZQA outcome?? Or you have no idea but have been politely waiting?

If you've no idea what the hold-up is and you're not waiting on NZQA outcomes...contact someone with NZIS. It may just be that it got set aside and Someone never got back to it (happened in my case, but after submitting ITA, my Someone left NZIS but never did anything with my case...until I contacted NZIS and they immed reassigned my case to another, totally on the ball, case officer who moved it right along very expediently.

Definitely follow the migratory birds lead - the wheels of bureaucracy occasionaly need oiling.
The whole ITA process can become very frustrating - and indeed on occasion make you feel like "is this really worth it?"

Good luck and stick with it :)

We have been pending since the 23 october

By 'pending' I guess that you've submitted the ITA, and that the INZ web site now shows your immigration application as lodged, but with decision pending? If so, I suggest you contact the officer at NZIS dealing with your case - the email address should have been on the letter that came with your ITA pack. Let them know the situation. Is there a specific date you need a decision by? Tell them. In my experience they do try to be helpful. Of course, they may not be back till 7 Jan, but the email will be waiting for them... You could even phone them (though again, IME, you only ever get the voice mail - but my case officer phones back pretty promptly).

Thanks again for all your help

Hi Ian and Jayne. Yes, despite the waits and frustration, it is worth it...

Every few days, something happens that makes my blood boil at the complacency that we as safricans have. The sooner it happens, the better, but if it takes a while, it's a small price to pay!

If you click on the following link it gives a very rough indication of where NZ House London are with the applications.

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm

Currently this is what it says

Once the pre-populated application form is returned to the London branch it should be allocated to a visa officer within four months. As an example, for the week ending 7th December 2007 we are allocating files lodged up to and including 10th September 2007.

Please note that if it is neccessary to perform a face to face interview with you the allocation timeframe above may not be applicable. You should refer to the News page of our website for further details of the upcoming interview trips to South Africa.

After your application has been allocated to an officer they will generally take between one and three months to make a final decision on your application. Processing times largely depend on whether you have supplied your visa officer with everything they have requested in your Invitation to Apply, or if there are any other issues (such as medical conditions) we need to follow up on.

Hope this helps
