Hello everyone.
After a four week honeymoon/research/reccy in N.Z, I have decided to turn my regular browsing behind the scenes on this fab forum into an official intro (drum role please).
My wife and I had high expectations prior to our visit to N.Z and Im happy to say that it was everything we had expected and more. We have talked about emigrating for many years and feel the time is right to get the wheels rolling. Im employed as a Train Driver here in the U.K and managed to set up an interview with a Train Operating Company during our visit. All seemed to go well and Im expecting to hear if I've got the job in January (fingers crosssed). If Im not successful, it's on to plan B...whatever that is?
We live in Sheffield at the moment, Auckland seems to tip the scales a bit, in fact it's broke them.
Now I'm in dreamland a bit here as I have'nt got the job yet, but we like the sounds of living in the North Shore area, it depends on what we can get for our money. I've been researching the prices for a 3 or 4 bedroom house and it looks like we would be mortgaged to the limit which defeats our orignial objective of having a fair bit of spare cash for family and recreational activities. But, to be honest, I think that if we were offered a hut with a drinking well near by in the middle of nowhere...ermmm, we would give it some serious thought, materialism is one of the many things we are trying to escape from.
This is a little break down of us Green family for you all. There is my wife Nikki, our delightful little girl Lily age 3, our cheeky little son Lucas, age 18 months and of course myself, Paul. Oh, and Tazmin the cat.
All of which are hoping to be in the emigration process and future Kiwi's very soon.
And now for some spiritual enlightenment which I have noticed many of you leave after your posts (which I think are fantastic)...eerrmmm:
There are many that have great intellect but few that are wise!

Welcome to the Forum and good luck with making your dream a reality, I really hope it works for you.

Assuming you are aiming for PR (Permanent Residence) and given that you are on the brink of getting a job offer (fingers crossed) I'd suggest getting your EOI (Expression of Interest) submitted asap to NZ Immigration. You can do it all online and although it might seem a bit daunting there are plenty of folks here who can answer any queries.

We've been in Auckland on the North Shore since July/August with our 6yr old son and I can't recommend it highly enough. The weather has been fab recently and I had a very warm fuzzy feeling watching him playing on the beach for hours on end.

Best wishes,
Anneliese (OH of mgbridges)

Thanks for a warm welcome.
Quick question, in regards to submitting an EOI to the immigration office. Do I have to do this if I will be obtaining a sponsored Visa from my (potential) new employer? I had presumed that it would all be done automatically by the company!
Thanks,
Paul.

AFAIK, you have to do it yourself? Although I guess the company may pay for an immigration consultant to submit the application for you.

Also, if they are sponsoring you, they may be expecting you to apply for a WTR not a PR so you may want to check this with them also.
