Greetings to the Board...Well its about that time when I leave good old West Wales for the very last time.
Its been one hectic 3 months...this whole process has been exhausting...it has taken us a year to sell our home, arrange this & that and the worst experience I have so far was trying to stop payments, accounts etc.
I realized that there are at least a dozen companies who use different banking methods to ither cancel, redirect or 30 day notification periods are in existence. As most of the call centres in the UK are are in fact based in Mumbai I had a little language barrier to overcome so the length of the calls and prounciation of my Welsh address was rather long. Cancelling Sky was the worst..its like they didnt want to let you go, even if you told them you were moving to another country...
But, Im through that now and look forward to I hope a better lifestyle...
Our household effects were moved with Britannia Robbins Swansea and left Southhampton dock on the 22 Dec...ETA so they said is on the 22 Jan 08 to Auckland...we will see..I'll give it another 10 days after that.
Im a IT Security consultant & my wife is with the NHS and we both have work lined up....Unfortunately my son is staying on with his grandparents because of GCSEs so he will join us later on in the Year...
Watched Wanted Downunder yesterday & enjoyed the last series. It seems the only thing that stops some people making the move is family, security and fear of the unknown..fare enough I say..but you got to do whats best for you & your family as your extended family will try to talk you out of leaving. Well some of them anyway.
Stay tuned for more...

Hiya
Nice to hear from Wales!!!!!!!
We are from Neath originally, whereabouts are you from ?
Notice you used Brittania in Swansea. Dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but we had no end of probs with them. We shipped our stuff (12 boxes) first weekend in March, we took delivery of them sometime in June! It was a nightmare and had to liaise with my Dad to go down there in person and find out what the hell was going on as the man we dealt with never returned our calls, luckily they were on skype or would have cost us a fortune! They never told us when we took boxes down that they had missed the next shipping, or that the one later was full, so please be warned.
Once they got over to NZ it was a matter of week at latest, completing all the paperwork again this side with NZ vanlines, then waiting for them to deliver. I had had heard bad vibes about NZ vanlines but have to admit they were good with us.
I agree with you on cancelling things in Uk, complete nightmare, and yes, we found SKy one of the worst, we were having bills and threatening letters from nearly 3mths over here.
Sorry, i sound awful dont i..................
It is fab over here, we have been here 9mths now and absolutely love it.
Keep in touch, when do you fly ??
Sharon
PS Dont mention my name to Robbins...........didnt leave them on pleasant note!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Wales4eva and croeso! We moved here just over a year ago from Cardiff. We had a good experience with Birtannia Robbins moving from one part of Cardiff to another, but on price went with John Mason for the international move. Hope yours goes well.
Where are you headed?
And yes, ditto Sky etc!!
Let us know how it all goes,
Cheers,
Gil

Hi
Sorry, thats ok............. thought i had got your back up a little thinking i was negative!
Just wanted to advise of our experience and our difficulties.
It worked out in end but after a lot of frustration, you know what its like, you just want you own stuff around you to make you feel more at home and it took its time..........
No hard feelings at all!

Thanks alot you guys..I appreciate your input..I must admit..I chose Britania Robbins because everyone else I setup or arranged to dwindled out were all plonkers...Pickfords,Excess etc.Kath Lewis in Swansea had reassured me that she had my back...She sent me these two plonkers from the yard...best bunch of blokes you could have..each having 25yrs exprience in the trade..basically..the more money you have, the more hell they played with you..it helps if your a Swansea jack or ospreys fan..lol...they were scheduled for 2 days and had all the gear to pack our stuff professionally..I was there the whole time when they packed and I was assured when the started packing my piano just how quick and efficient they were...gone are they days of old blankets and foam..in with breathable and 3 ply boxes & bubblewrap which I paid extra for...I even helped the buggars load and always kept the kettle filled..once they loaded there parting shot was..There you are "Mr..Your life is in there and we will take care of it.."nearly made me cry..so the next day they transported our stuff down to the yard and repacked them onto pallets into our 20ft Container..NO GROUPAGE HERE..Boxes onboard..120 items
With the advent of the Internet and tracking system with Maersk I can track the ship to Auckland ( Last report - The Ship is bound for Kuala Lumpar and has passed through the Suez Canal and docking on the 7th Jan)..so far so good..as far as Britania Robbins..they have done a good job on this end..Their agent in Auckland is Allied Movers & Trans International Movers.
I will update you further..
